Gray owl cheese is a surface-ripened goat’s milk cheese. It is made in Canada and has a soft exterior coating of vegetable ash that makes a wrinkly, slate-colored rind.
Gray owl cheese has a sharp taste with a creamy yet crumbly texture. It readily melts in your mouth and has a strong, salty flavor.
2. Gray Salt
Gray salt, also known as sel gris, is a sea salt that is rich in minerals and collected only from France’s Atlantic coast. The French salt is harvested in a salt pan and then hand raked, a process that turns the gray salt its signature grayish color.
Gray Celtic sea salt is said to help restore electrolyte balance and may even prevent muscle cramping. This is no ordinary table salt!
3. Gray Trich Mushroom
The gray trich mushroom is just one of the many gray edible mushrooms you can find on our list. It is often called charbonnier and is found in North America and Europe.
The caps of the mushrooms are gray, while the stem and underside are white. It still deserves a place on our list of gray foods!

The outside frosting on a wedding cake is typically what is dyed light gray. Any shade of gray is possible. You simply need to add more food coloring.
While a gray cake may not have the health benefits of a gray fruit or vegetable, it still deserves a place on our gray foods list! It can be quite gray.
14. Charleston Gray Melon
Charleston melons are long, oblong melon that has a greenish-gray rind. They are often used to make watermelon rind pickles which means you can actually eat the gray part!
Charleston gray melon can grow between 20 and 40 pounds and are sweet and juicy and has lots of antioxidant properties. They may be our favorite gray fruit of all!
